E-Coat
ElectroFin® E-Coat is a factory-applied solution which involves full immersion. ElectroFin® E-Coat is a proprietary technology that can only be applied at our facilities. Our unique process provides an electro-deposition coating process that involves epoxy paint particles evenly suspended in deionized water. When electrically charged, the paint particles migrate to and bond with aluminum, copper, and other conductive metal surfaces that form the heat exchanger coils. Resin and pigment migrate to the part, and an organic uniform film is irreversibly deposited.
ElectroFin® E-Coat is an internationally recognized e-coating process that has been reapplied by our engineers and redesigned to provide the ultimate protection for condenser and evaporator coils.
ElectroFin® E-Coat is ideally suited for coastal and offshore environments as well as industrial areas with high humidity and aggressive atmospheres, such as electrical power plants, refineries, waste water treatment plants, and urban areas with nearly permanent
condensation and high pollution. ElectroFin® E-Coat extends the lives of HVAC&R heat transfer coils and components, reduces maintenance and operating costs, and is used by every major OEM.
Benefits of the ElectroFin® E-Coat Process
- Provides exceptional flexibility, durability, adhesion properties, coil coverage, and corrosion and UV resistance.
- Increased efficiency and length of service of HVAC&R systems.
- Reduced maintenance, replacement and operating costs.
- Coil useful life is 3-5 times longer than the life of an uncoated coil in the same location and environment.
- Uniform film thickness from the outside fin edges to the deep internal areas. This is important because thicker e-coat applications can prohibit coil efficiencies, generate higher energy bills, and cause a shorter unit lifespan.
- Guaranteed 100% coverage of any fin design, including enhanced fins up to 30 fins per inch, without bridging.
- With the ElectroFin® E-Coat process, a coil’s original heat transfer rates are maintained longer over the extended life of the coil (as compared to an uncoated coil in the same environment). ElectroFin ® E-Coat ensures complete coverage without any fin bridging (up to 30 fpi).
- Provides excellent seacoast and salt environment protection, as well as outstanding protection in acidic and alkaline environments ranging from 3.0-12.0 pH levels. ElectroFin ® E-Coat coated coils are tested and passed ASTM B-117 Salt Spray tests exceeding 6000 hours.
- Designed to protect the coil with less than 1% thermal performance degradation. ElectroFin ® E-Coat protects the product’s heat transfer coils without an adverse effect on cooling or heat pump performance.
- Guaranteed 100% coverage of any fin design, including enhanced fins up to 30 fins per inch, without bridging.
- If the coil fails due to corrosion, a 5-year unit replacement guarantee (including labor) is available.

Insitu®
ADD INSITU® SPRAY APPLIED COATING TO YOUR HVAC SYSTEM
To provide your HVAC&R equipment with the ultimate in corrosion protection, specify Insitu® Spray Applied Coating to complete the job. Mechanical Engineers that are specifying a protective coating system for their equipment always have the opportunity to specify both ElectroFin® E-Coat and Insitu® Spray Applied Coating. Using both of these products in tandem puts your equipment on the ultimate protection path and guarantees you the very best in corrosion protection.
Insitu® Spray Applied
Coating is a spray-on coating, and can be applied either in the factory or in the field. When time is critical, a field-applied spray coating may be the right solution. Insitu® Spray Applied Coating is a permanent, water-based, synthetic coating developed specifically for the protection of heat exchange units. It can be applied quickly at our facilities or on-site.
While this technology does not match the complete immersion, factory-applied ElectroFin® E-Coat process, a spray-applied coating does provide a level of protection that is better than no coating at all. Applied by certified technicians, the coating is fast drying, with only a single application required.

Insitu® Spray Applied Coating benefits
In environments where corrosion is highly present (marine, industrial, agricultural, or areas where there are harsh chemicals), the system heat transfer coils can corrode very quickly, resulting in efficiency and capacity loss. This can be expensive in terms of energy consumption, repair bills, and system downtime.
Corrosion leads to many problems, not just from an appearance factor, but performance as well. Loss in efficiency will generate higher energy use and bills to follow. In seaside locations especially, the operating performance of unprotected condenser coils may decrease over 50% in a single year. As a building and system owner, the cost of energy continues to rise, and it makes no sense to pay for a high-efficiency system that cannot effectively operate as intended.
- Decreases pressure and temperature deltas
- Extends operational life
- Creates a smooth surface for easy maintenance
- High chemical and UV resistance
- Drop ship available
- Environmentally sustainable
- Meets low VOC, water-based SCAQMD emission standards
- Flexible
- No refrigerant removal necessary
The Insitu® Spray Applied Coating process
ES² technology
Insitu® Spray Applied contains ES² (embedded stainless steel pigment) technology, an anticorrosion coating specifically designed for the protection of coils mounted in corrosive areas. Coils will have a permanent, water-based synthetic coating with ES2 pigment applied to all coating surface areas without material bridging between fins.
